To get your rears into gear for this Saturday’s FREE RAVE…
PIPEMIX has thrown down this crazy mixtape choc full of his signature quick cuts and super edits of our favourite Generic club anthems. 57 songs in 50 minutes. 110% PARTY.
We got a bag full of this CD to give out on the night for you to relive the moments in your bedroom.
DID SOMEONE SAY FREE DRINKS?
Yep, you heard right. We’re being a bit silly and chucking away 2 lots of5 drink vouchers for ultimate swag-abilities. All you have to do is tell us your favourite record. It could be a full length album, an EP or a single.
You see, even though we’re calling this puppy a Rave the music will probably be all over the place. Perhaps only ironically “rave” at times. A pesudo-rave if you will. We want to know what music you are digging. It can be anything from baile funk to 90s rap to disco house to dubstep anthems to Nikki Minaj (Nikki Minaj is encouraged). The winner will get some drinks and then maybe if we’re nice we’ll play a song from their favourite album too.

Strapped 4 Cash? Have you maxed out your credit card again on stupid shit from EBay? Was that fine wine and dine a kick in the nuts to your bank account? Did you at least get in the pants? We feel you. We believe that the best things in life aren’t free, but it would be pretty damn awesome if they were.
Which is why this months edition of Generic Party is totally on us!
You may remember us as the dudes responsible for bringing to Sydney some of the most exciting beat makers from around the globe. Including memorable parties with the likes of quirky techno technicians Renaissance Man, super talented young guy French Fries, disco stalwart Rory Phillips, the rude girl of all things bass Cooly G, and future garage hit man Mosca.
This April 30th at the Phoenix grunge dungeon, we’re throwing a party to give back to YOU. That’s right, a whole night of the Generic DJs and friends spinning their most eclectic and exciting new club tunes, some old dusty records, and maybe some dumb party jams too. Just don’t expect none of that boring shit you hear everywhere else. We’ll be throwing away some drink cards plus a bucketload of drink specials to get you lubricated enough to swag the fuck out and mingle with that foxy thing across the dance floor. Mixtape giveaways at the door courtesy of yours truly so you can relive the moments in your bedroom.
If those 3 paragraphs of overhype weren’t enough to excite you then maybe you should stay at home knitting. Did we mention it’s free?
Creamfields comes down under this year again with a big line up packed with some of the highest profile acts in the dance game. Amongst the fist pump inducing Deadmau5, Skrillex, Chuckie and the pelvic thrusting Martin Solveig are some seriously legit players in house and techno. Here’s our picks for this years festivities. We’re giving 2x double passes courtesy of the nice guys over at Totem.
Arguably the pioneers of house and techno; Kevin Saunderson & Derrick May as Hi Tek Soul
Quirky house awesome dudes Round Table Knights
The legendary Tim Green
& The party starting Nadastrom

2011 seems to be on some next-level trajectory with heaps of awesome music shit coming into fruition on the regular. I haven’t seen so many good gigs to hit this little city of ours since… well since ever. One of those super good gigs coming up is the James Pants + Peanut Butterwolf + Djanimalsgig this Saturday at the Basement.
This is probably one of the few times you’ll see a Stones Throw contingent roll three man deep in Sydney. Peanut Butter Wolf is the godfather of the prolific label and has garnered a cult following as being responsible for the output of such amazing producers as the late greatJ Dilla, the undeniably funky Dam-Funk, the soulful Aloe Blacc and most recently picking up on the exciting young talent of Sydney’s Djanimals. So go buy some tickets here to what could potentially be the greatest celebration of weird vinyl bred hip-hop crossover music this city has seen. I’m hoping PBW DJ’s on some mother fucking DVDz:

Speaking of next level beatmaking, the UK’s Gold Panda just released heaps of his unreleased (self-released) 2009 stuff into one nifty ditty aptly called Companion. In conjunction with the release, the Ghostly label put out this interesting introspective mini-bio-tour flick.
And to round up this all over the place post, here’s a video of James Blake performing Wilhlem’s Scream during his very-much-talked-about SXSW performance. Dude kills it.
Big up everyone that came down to Phoenix on friday for the Generic Party with Mosca! Bucketfulls of bucket-fueled fun had by all. Mosca went hard and dope sets all round from Preacha, Kato and Generic fams. Photos up on here are coming soon but in the mean time you can get tagging on the evidence through our new facebook book page here. Hit the like button while your at it ya big goober.
